The STUDR App project required us to update an existing app. We took a minimalist approach to the design. Simple iconography was used to make navigating the screens and their functions intuitive. Through the use of both updated typography and new graphics we were able to bring to make the information the user is looking for mouch more prominent.
A big challenge in this project was creating a data structure that would allow us to present large amounts of custom data. The STUDR app interfaces with the curriculums of schools and student’s schedules across the nation. While things like course codes and names as well as semesters are familiar to all students, they aren’t necessarily implemented the same from school to school. We created a data structure that allows users to interact easily with the app and have a consistent experience regardless of the school they attend.
The STUDR iOS App was engineered using the the latest verision of Swift. The server was built using Ruby on Rails.
STUDR is a work in progress. As the app gets into the hands of more students in different schools across the nation, we continue to explore ways to make the app better. An Android version of the app is soon to come as well.
